AASA The School Superintendents Association, announced the finalists for the 2015 National Superintendent of the Year Award. Arlington Superintendent Dr. Pat Murphy was named as one of the four finalists for the award which will be announced during AASA’s 150th anniversary celebration at the National Conference on Education, Feb. 26-28, 2015, in San Diego.  More Seats for Students Help Shape the Future of Our Schools

After considering the input from an extensive community engagement process and the recommendations of the APS Facilities Advisory Committee and the Superintendent, the Arlington School Board adopted a plan to increase secondary capacity at the Dec. 18 meeting. The approved options are all slated to be completed by the start of school in September 2019. (More)

MLK Winners The School Board honored the 24 winners of the 2015 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Literary and Visual Arts competition.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Posse Winner The Board honored Yorktown High School senior Christian Carrillo who was selected to receive a four-year, full-tuition scholarship from the Posse Scholarship Foundation to attend partnering institution Bucknell University. The award is worth more than $200,000.
